EUROPLEXUS

EUROPLEXUS is a general Finite Element Software for the non-linear dynamic analysis of Fluid-Structure systems subjected to fast transient dynamic loading: explosive fluids, impacts, flow variations (subsonic, transonic and supersonic), dynamics of pipelines in the presence of internal flow.

Jointly developed since 2000, by the French Atomic Energy Commission, the Joint Research Centre and SAMTECH, EUROPLEXUS results from two ancestors: CEA's CASTEM-PLEXUS and the former joint product PLEXIS- 3C developed since 1986 by CEA and the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Community.

EUROPLEXUS provides different models within the framework of very diverse situations to represent the explosive fluids, like perfect gas, JWL, multi-phase and multi-component.

The software enables the users to study behavior of structures subjected to impact conditions involving deformation or penetration, with or without fragmentation of the impacted structure.

EUROPLEXUS helps to a good comprehension of the dynamics of pipelines in the presence of internal flow even when a sudden depressurization occurs due to a rupture in the pipe itself.

It analyses the propagation of flow variations in presence of obstacles, as well as interaction with subsonic or supersonic jets.
